Job Description

St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance has an opening for a Community Engagement Manager, located in our Phoenix office. The Community Engagement Manager will build and maintain new and current relationships with key stakeholders, community members and resources to promote food insecurity awareness. In addition, this position will support the development and implementation of community-based strategic plans resulting in an increase of meal access to hungry people. The Community Engagement Manager will work with local community groups to advance common goals, support coordination of work, and develop community wide engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities of the Community Engagement Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Forging strategic relationships and collaborative partnerships with cross-sector leadership to drive integrated community vision addressing food insecurity.
  • Utilizing qualitative and quantitative data and research to develop solutions and strategies to address food insecurity and other social determinates of poverty.
  • Developing and managing outreach strategies and materials that engage a diverse community audience with cultural sensitivity.
  • Developing and managing implementation of community-based strategies and programs.
  • Coordinating events and/or projects in collaboration with outside partners, groups or organizations.
  • Identifying, creating, and developing evaluation tools used in community engagement activities to measure ongoing effectiveness.
  • Generating reports and maintaining statistical data and other vital information to track progress against agreed upon plans and strategies to measure outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with civic organizations, government agencies and other community partners.
  • Participating in community, statewide and national organizations to further the mission of St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.
  • Collaborating with Feeding America and other food banks in the Feeding America network to share best practices and lessons learned about specific initiatives gleaned in the role.
  • Maintaining strong and consistent communication with Director on progress, challenges and successes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in education, social work, public health, public policy, public administration or related field.
  • Three or more years’ of management-level experience to include experience with strategic, project or program planning.
  • Experience assessing community assets and needs, identifying complex problems, and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate comprehensive solutions.
  • Knowledge of community collective impact theory and practice including benchmarks of phased implementation strategies and systems change.
  • Demonstrated record of successful project design, development and management.
  • Experience and success working in partnership with diverse organizations focused on shared goals.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills - attention to detail; ability to prioritize; ability to meet deadlines; ability to multi-task; strong problem solving.
  • Experience working with external evaluators, consultants and/or facilitators.
  • Experience developing community outreach tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated public speaking experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products to include Outlook, Word, Power Point & Excel.
  • Flexible work schedule to include some evenings and weekends.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
