Area Agency Coordinator

The role of Area Agency Coordinator requires a self-directed, high energy, innovative professional to manage multiple functions of government and donor funded programs. This staff member must possess the ability to think creatively and analytically, and be able to quickly assess and implement process improvements and streamline program operations. This opportunity is for an individual with a passion for alleviating food insecurity, who can communicate rules and regulations in a coaching, supportive manner to ensure a high degree of agency comprehension and understanding. This position includes long-distance driving to agency partners across the St. Mary’s Service Area and may include multiple overnight visits within a month.

The Coordinator will be responsible for servicing the areas of Navajo and Apache Counties of the I-40 interstate and working directly with our partners in the Hopi and Navajo communities. This role will ensure partners maintain all program regulations set forth by the USDA, the Arizona Department of Education, the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Feeding America, St. Mary's Food Bank and the Program Manager. The team ember is responsible for the ongoing compliance of partner agencies and providing technical assistance when necessary. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain agency compliance according to USDA, ADE, DES, Feeding America and St. Mary’s Food Bank regulations.
  •  Consult with management on non-compliant agencies, creates supportive corrective action plans.
  •  Conduct on-site trainings, visits and monitoring.
  •  Consult with agencies on strategic initiatives and work with Community Engagement Team to identify opportunities for improvement in agency operation and expansion of operational capacity.
  •  Recommend and implement changes to processes; Ability to balance compliance needs with our customer service oriented values 
  •  Confirm the accuracy of weekly metrics from partner agencies and responsible for accurate data entry and maintenance of various data tracking spreadsheets.  
  •  Communicate directly with the St. Mary’s Food Bank transportation, production and allocation divisions to ensure quality, quantity and timely delivery of product
  •  Perform other related tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Northern Arizona Programs Manager.

Education/Experience:

  •  Associates Degree or higher, or combination of education and experience.
  •  5 years experience working in social services or customer service related field.
  •  Experience working with tribal communities or minority populations is preferred.
  •  Experience working with state and federal regulatory agencies preferred.

Skills, Abilities, Knowledge

  •  Must reside in Northern Arizona
  •  Must be available to work some evenings and weekends as needed
  •  Current valid driver’s license and functioning vehicle (a company vehicle may be provided)
  •  Comfortable driving long-distance to multiple site visits per week, multiple overnight visits with sites may occur within the month.
  •  Ability to be on your feet for multiple hours a day and lift 25+lbs
  •  Advanced skills in all Microsoft Office applications
  •  Comfortable utilizing and learning new technology, databases, and internet-based tools.
  •  Exceptional organizational and time management skills - attention to detail; ability to prioritize; ability to meet deadlines; ability to multi-task; strong problem solving
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •  Ability to analyze and enforce compliance issues with agency(s)
  •  Maintain a positive, professional attitude, confidentiality and respect cultural differences
  •  Self-directed worker comfortable operating unaided in various capacities and environments
