Development Associate - Millennial Donors

The Millennial Donor Engagement Associate is responsible for managing a portfolio of millennial donors and developing strategies to attract and engage this demographic. Working closely with the Development Department and under the guidance of the Senior Manager of Charitable Support, they will lead efforts in identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and stewarding millennial donors and prospects. Additionally, they will plan and execute non-fundraising events aimed at cultivating, recognizing, educating, and stewarding current food bank supporters across different giving levels.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement targeted strategies to engage millennial and mid-level donors contributing $1k+ annually.
  • Design and execute a comprehensive development plan to expand the donor base within the millennial demographic through social media, events, and digital marketing.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective donors through personalized communications, including calls, emails, notes, tours, and special occasion cards.
  • Manage and grow the Junior Hunger Heroes program to engage children and families through activities, newsletters, and events.
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions and communications in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Research and identify potential donors aligned with the Food Bank’s mission and capacity to give significant gifts.
  • Plan, execute and evaluate family-friendly events to promote engagement.
  • Nurture ongoing relationship with donors post-gift to ensure continued engagement.
  • Collaborate with development staff on stewardship, engagement, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist with departmental functions such as incoming calls, event planning, and supporting revenue-generating initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Four year degree or equivalent in nonprofit, sales, marketing, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in maintaining donor relationships and developing effective strategies for gift solicitation.
  • Strong stewardship and relationship management skills, with meticulous follow-through and excellent presentation abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly articulating St. Mary’s mission, strategic goals, and case for support.
  • Ability to independently and confidently initiate contact with donors and prospects.
  • Experience in project management, including planning and executing successful events.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative, millennial and family-friendly events and initiatives.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and Raiser’s Edge.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, including conducting donor tours and participating in events.
