Development Associate

St. Mary’s Food Bank (SMFB) is currently seeking a Development Associate to assist with the Monthy Giving Program. SMFB is fortunate to have a robust Monthly Giving Circle program (sustaining donors) with 4,200 donors with $2.3 million in revenue which has enormous growth potential. This program requires creative marketing and stewardship strategies to realize that growth and requires daily administrative oversight.

Position Responsibilities:

  •  Grow the program revenue by creating and implementing a strategic plan to acquire, retain and upgrade monthly donors.
  •  Keep abreast of all existing departmental revenue generating initiatives that may impact this program.
  •  Serve as point of contact for all monthly donor requests and inquiries, returning all calls and email requests on the same business day.
  •  Steward donors through appropriate communications including but not limited to phone calls, emails, notes, greeting cards and in-person communications.
  •  Analyze program revenue and donor count and provide monthly reports on status and progress.
  •  Review, adjust, maintain recordkeeping process through Luminate Online and Raiser’s Edge.
  •  Solve credit card and donation issues quickly by closely working with Finance department.
  • Conduct tours of the food bank for current and prospective donors as needed. 
  • Assist with incoming phone calls to the department during the months of November and December due to high gift volume.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication and excellent customer service skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work closely with fellow staff members and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Raiser’s Edge (preferred) and Microsoft Office (required).
  • High level of organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Flexible and willing to acquire new or shift responsibilities.
  • Ability to adjust to the seasonal volume of responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and stewardship practices (preferred).
  • Ability to conduct two hour-walking donor tours of operation.
